Chicken Curry

This aromatic chicken curry is rich, flavorful, and perfect for dinner. Made with traditional spices for an authentic taste!

Ingredients

For Marination:
  • 500g chicken (bone-in or boneless)
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
For Curry:
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 large onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (pureed)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 cup water
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the chicken - In a bowl, mix chicken with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, chili powder and salt. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

Sauté onions - Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, then add chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic - Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute until raw smell goes away.

Add tomato puree - Add tomato puree and cook until oil separates from masala (about 5-7 minutes).

Add dry spices - Add coriander powder, chili powder, turmeric. Cook for 2 minutes.

Add chicken - Add marinated chicken and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes until chicken changes color.

Add water - Add 1 cup water, mix well. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes until chicken is tender.

Finish and garnish - Add garam masala, mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander.

Serve hot - Serve with rice, naan, or roti.
